My journey from HVAC installer to service tech, to sales consultant and eventually sales manager is a testament to the power of learning and adapting in the field of sales and customer service. I realized that listening to the customer and making them feel empowered in their decision-making process is key to success.
I fell into the same common trap that sales professionals fall into of talking too much and assuming they know what's best for the customer. But as I discovered, shifting the focus to making the customer the expert in their own needs and spending decisions can lead to remarkable results.
My approach of teaching my sales team to apply my process while still allowing for individual personality became essential for successful leadership and coaching skills.
